Before and After Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a quick fix for brightening and smoothing your face. Many love this “no down time”  and easy treatment that makes your skin baby soft immediately after the service.

Dermaplaning is a skin resurfacing procedure that uses a specialized blade to remove dead skin and hairs from the face. It can help improve the skin’s appearance by reducing fine lines, acne scars, sun damage, and other skin concerns. In this blog, I will discuss some of the benefits and the process of dermaplaning for consumers.

One of the benefits of dermaplaning is that it can make the skin smoother and brighter. By removing the top layer of skin, dermaplaning reveals newer and healthier skin cells that reflect light better. It also removes peach fuzz, which can trap dirt and oil and make the skin look dull. Dermaplaning can enhance the effectiveness of skincare products by allowing them to penetrate deeper into the skin. It can also create a smoother base for makeup application.

Dermaplaning

The process of dermaplaning is relatively simple and painless. At Pelage, dermaplaning is performed by one of our licensed estheticians. The procedure usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. The esthetician will cleanse the skin and then use a sterile scalpel to gently scrape off the dead skin and hair in short strokes. She will then  apply a moisturizer and sunscreen after the procedure to protect and hydrate the skin. Dermaplaning is considered a safe and low-risk procedure for most people. However, there are some possible side effects and complications that clients should be aware of. Some of these include:-

  • Redness, irritation, or sensitivity of the skin.
  • Nicks or cuts from the blade.

To avoid these side effects and complications, clients should follow the pre- and post-care instructions given by their service provider. They should also avoid dermaplaning if they have active acne, cold sores, eczema, warts, or other skin conditions that could be aggravated by the procedure. The process of dermaplaning is simple and painless when performed by a qualified professional. However, clients should be aware of the possible side effects and complications and follow the proper care instructions to ensure optimal results.
